The Phantom Of The Opera

Phantom of the Opera is based on a classic French thriller about a terrifying and legendary figure who emerges from the depths of The Paris Opera House and manifests the mythic opera ghost in terrifying reality. With some of the most lavish sets, costumes and special effects ever to have been created for the stage, The Phantom of the Opera is a musical phenomenon.

It received its world premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London on 9th October 1986 and has since played over 9,500 performances in London. Worldwide it has been seen in 90 cities and has won more than 50 major theatre awards.

The Phantom of the Opera is the classic musical by Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber set in the Paris opera house. Now in its 25th year, ‘Phantom’ is booking until at least February 2011 at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's Haymarket.

Based on Gaston Leroux's gothic novel of a mysterious masked man who falls in love with Christine, a singer who inspires The Music of the Night. Directed by Harold Prince,

Phantom of the Opera has enjoyed great success around the world in many cities and holds the Broadway record for longest-running production.

At Her Majesty's Theatre in London, Ramin Karimloo has been donning the mask in the original production of The Phantom of the Opera for over two years. During this time he was proud to play the title role for the landmark 21st anniversary performance. Prior to playing The Phantom, Ramin was cast as Raoul in the same production.

John Owen-Jones will play the Phantom until the 17th of March 2012 having joined the cast on 1st November 2010

24th Anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera

October 9th 2010 was the 24th Anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. October is a good month to open musical theatre shows as it was Les Miserables’ 25th Birthday the day before.

When the Phantom of The Opera opened in 1986 Michael Crawford played the Phantom with Sarah Brightman as Christine and Steve Barton as Raoul.


Michael Crawford is soon to return to London’s West End at the London Palladium playing the Wizard in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of The Wizard of Oz.

Phantom of The Opera UK Tour

The Phantom Of The Opera will embark on a UK Tour next year 2012 opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on 13th March 2012 where it will run for five weeks. It will then go on a tour around the UK playing at most major venues for 5 weeks at a time. The Phantom of the Opera Tour will extend into 2013.


Cast List for the UK Tour of Phantom

The Phantom of the Opera is going on tour in 2012/13 starting at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in February 2012 extending into 2013. The role of the Phantom will be played by John Owen-Jones and Earl Carpenter with Simon Bailey as Raoul and Katie Hall playing Christine.

Other cast members for the tour include Angela M Caesar/Carlotta: Andy Hockley/Monsieur Firmin: Simon Green/Monsieur Andre: Elizabeth Marsh/Madame Giry: Vincent Pirillo/Ubaldo Piangi and Olivia Brereton as Christine at certain performances. They will be joined by Alistair Barron, Rosie Bell, James Bisp, Greg Castiglioni, Cindy Corinne Ciunfrini, Caroline Crawley, Rachel Crocker, Michael Diana, Liesl Dowsett, A C Garcia, Hannah Grace, Henry Grant Kerswell, Sam Harrison, Sophie Hartley, Kirk Jameson, Sarah Joyce, Lauren Lotz, Lee Ormsby, Siani Owen, David Phipps-Davis, Claire Platt, James Pullum, Leigh Rhianon Coggins, Emma Roberts-Simms, Ben Sleep and Richard Woodford.
