The Drowsy Chaperone
From Theatre Breaks
The London fringe premiere of The Drowsy Chaperone at Highgate's Upstairs at the Gatehouse Theatre will star Siobhan McCarthy (who originated the role of Donna in the original cast of Mamma Mia!) in the title role, and Michael Howe as Aldolpho.
A fringe production of the Tony Award winning musical. The musical spoof, The Drowsy Chaperone was a Broadway hit and contains every element of the typical musical we love to hate.
It's a far fetched love crisis with gangsters, pimps and hos, millionaires and maids appropriated billed as a comedy wrapped up in a musical.
The production will begin performances Sept. 23, prior to an official opening Sept. 28, for a run through to October 31st 2010.
Also in the company are Amy Diamond (a finalist in the BBC's "Over the Rainbow" reality TV search for Dorothy) as starlet-turned-bride Janet and Matthew Lloyd Davies (Chicago and The Lion King in the West End) as the Man in Chair, joined by Gavin Keenan as George, Graham Lappin as Mr. Feldzeig, Ursula Mohan as Mrs. Tottendale, Jo Parsons and Giovanni Spano as the Gangsters, John Rawnsley as Underling and Tanya Robb as Kitty.
