Les Miserables
There has been a very strong and reliable rumour reported that West End star Ramin Karimloo is set to star as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre.
Ramin has already played Marius and Enjolras in various productions of Les Mis.
Karimloo recently played the title role in the 25th Anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera. He has also played Raoul and the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre and originated the role of the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom sequel, Love Never Dies.
He is currently on a short concert tour with his “A Night With the Phantom”.
Houdini The Musical
In an interview with the Canadian newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press Ramin said that there's a possibility he'll be producing and starring in Houdini the Musical in London at the end of 2012.
Hugh Jackman was rumoured to be in the frame for this role and was meant to do a workshop in January 2011 with some of the creative team already on board: Aaron Sorkin, (writer), Danny Elfman (composer) and Jack O’Brien directing. But Jackman's commitments (including playing Jean Valjean in the LesMis film) have ruled him out for the foreseeable future.
The Houdini musical has been in the pipeline for a couple of years and hopefully Karimloo’s involvement will speed up the process.
