Grease Theatre Breaks
Grease is the feel good musical still playing at the Piccadilly Theatre.
From 27 September 2010, Matthew Goodgame is starring as Danny opposite Over The Rainbow runner-up Lauren Samuels, and both will continue in the leading roles until the musical closes on 30 April 2011.
It’s one of the all time great musicals which spans the decades by being set in the fifties and made famous in the 70s
This production of the Grease the musical opened in the West End in 1993, running for six years. It returned to London in 2007 following the ITV reality show Grease Is The Word which cast leads Susan McFadden and Danny Bayne.
Now booking at the Piccadilly theatre until April 30th 2011.

The London West End cast of Grease welcomes some new faces on 24th January 2011
Carina Gillespie will replace Lauren Samuels as Sandy and will play opposite Matthew Goodgame as Danny until the show closes its doors on 30 April. Also joining the cast for the show’s final leg will be David O’Reilly as Roger, Michael Pickering as Doody, Zoe Doano as Frenchy, Matthew Russell-Jones as Eugene, Nancy Hill as Miss Lynch, and Kristina MacMillan as Cha Cha.
Gillespie made her professional stage debut in the UK and Scandinavian tours of The Buddy Holly Story, playing Maria Elena.
September 2010
On 27 September 2010, Jamie Capewell took over the role of Kenickie and Giovanni Spano began his run as Doody.
Matthew Goodgame, who previously played the role of ‘Kenicke’, will takes over the role of ‘Danny’, from Noel Sullivan on 27th September 2010
Lauren Samuels continues as Sandy.
Heart DJ and former CBBC presenter Toby Anstis joined the cast of Grease in the role of Teen Angel from 25 January 2010.
Former Maria hopeful Siobhan Dillon was Sandy in Grease at the Piccadilly theatre from 25 January 2010.

- 10 million people have seen the London production since it opened in 1993.
- Grease has grossed over £165 million in the UK alone.
- Richard Gere starred as Danny Zuko in the original London stage show of Grease in 1973. He was unknown at the time.
- There are a total of 142 costume changes in the show including 16 leather jackets and 59 wigs.
- Plenty of washing takes place each month including 720 white t shirts.
- 10 cans of hairspray and 8 pots of gel are used each week to perfect those slick hairstyles.
